Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) subsidiary Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts announced an investment in a new warehouse at the firm’s receiving and storage facility in Alejandro Roca, Argentina in a press release Thursday.

“Argentina is one of the largest producers of edible peanuts in the world, and as a major global player, Golden Peanut is investing to ensure that we have more than enough capability to continue to meet increasing demand,” Greg Mills, president of Golden Peanut, said in a statement. “This project will ensure that we are able to safely and efficiently receive and store increasing volumes of farmer stock so that we can continue to supply customers around the world with the quality peanuts they’ve come to expect from Golden.”

The new warehouse will add 18,000 MT of storage capacity, efficient loading systems, and an overhead belt to receive peanuts, and an underground belt to directly feed into the site’s processing operations, according to ADM.

“Increasing crops in the region without corresponding increases in storage have led to bottlenecks and loss of product,” said Carlos Urquiza, president and general manager of Golden Peanut’s operations in Argentina, in the release. “Our new warehouse will reduce losses, decrease unload times, and improve quality control from the farm field to the customer.”

The Argentina facility is one of 13 processing plants owned and operated by Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts in the world.
