Over 2500 pieces of equipment from a former Pillsbury dough manufacturing plant in New Albany, IN will be auctioned on February 16 by New Mill Capital Holdings and Tiger Group, the companies announced by press release Wednesday.
The live auction and simulatenous webcast auction includes bulk powder processing, blending, sifting, and dough mixing equipment, in addition to liquid processing and blending systems, shortening systems, and secondary packaging machinery, the companies said. Plant support and maintenance equipment and electrical and ammonia equipment are also going on the block. Another online-only auction will be held on February 21 at 10 a.m. CST to liquidate the remainder of the plant support equipment and spare parts.
“While this was a dough production facility, a large percentage of the equipment being sold translates well across the entire food processing industry. It’s a great auction for companies in the market for equipment to purchase well-maintained machinery with no lead-time,” said Eric Weiler, principal of New Mill Capital in a statement. “When you have an equipment sale of this size, there is something for everyone.”
More than 100 screeners and sifters from Kason, Great Western and Rotex are up for grabs, as well as stainless receiving hoppers, ingredient bins, dump stations, Supersack equipment, and more.
Powder & Bulk Solids reported in November 2016 that General Mills sold the plant to New Mill Capital Holdings and Tiger Group for an undisclosed sum.
The companies are also separately selling the 450,00-sq-ft facility and refrigerated warehouse space, which occupies 34.5 acres.
Live bidding will commence at the New Albany facility at 10 a.m. CST, with a preview on February 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by appointment.
“Food processors, commercial bakeries, and distribution companies should be interested in the assets up for bid,” said Jeff Tanenbaum, president of Tiger’s commercial & industrial division. “This is not your typical equipment auction, but rather an opportunity to acquire well-maintained production and facility support equipment of a substantial food processing facility.”
